Builders of Possibilities is the concept from the Design for Change and Learning Planet Institute networks. In this class, we are looking for solutions "on your own scale" to respond to the problem of pollution.
In a world disrupted by societal, political and ecological changes, it isnecessary to make young people aware of their capacity for action. Do you remember the legend of the hummingbird who wanted to put out fire in the forest ? Animals were unable to act. Only the hummingbird, took a few drops of water from the river to pour them on the flames, multiplying the round trips as much as it could. Animals were laughing at him: “Do you think that with these few drops of water you will put out the fire?!" The hummingbird answereds them: “I am doing my part”.
Students think in 4 steps:
- Identify a problem
- Imagine the solution
- Realize this solution
- Share your experience
"Now it's up to them to think about how they are going to really achieve what is achievable."
